When it comes to ramen, everyone seems to have a preference for the type they like the best - and those preferences can get a little heated at times! Whether you're a shoyu or shio fan, or maybe miso or tonkotsu is more your jam, the much-loved noodle dish inspires passion in both chefs and foodies alike.

That passion comes alive at Ramen Wars, an annual event in Niigata City held in conjunction with local TV network NST. Now in its 11th year, Ramen Wars sees some of Japan's top chefs serve up their high quality signature dishes to the general public. These aren't your run-of-the-mill ramen options, either! Certain entrants at this year's event have received the Michelin Bib Gourmand, or had their dishes served up to world leaders at the G20 summit. Impressive!

Each bowl of ramen at the event is priced at 800 yen, and last calls for ramen are at 4.30 pm each day.
