Katori Jingu has a large shrine precinct with many small but evocative monuments. It’s a must see for martial arts students as it’s the birthplace of classical sword schools. If you time your visit right, you may be able to observe martial arts demonstrations there. Another appeal of the shrine - it's hardly ever crowded apart from new year visitors.
