Tsukuba-san is a great hike for beginners, an easy daytrip from Tokyo and considered one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains.

Its convenience from Tokyo makes a hike up Mt. Tsukuba very appealing as a day trip. I've been up here several times and honestly love it. One of my favourite places to visit.

Stunning huge ancients trees. But do be careful, much of the trail up is steep and rocky. Just walk slowly, no rush, enjoy the peace and sounds of the forests. Or walk a bit up to experience the climb and scenery, then come down again and take the cable car.
