We really enjoyed our trip to Ushiku Daibutsu. It was particularly beautiful in the spring when we went - there were a bunch of seasonal flowers growing on the grounds by the daibutsu itself, adding to the stunning yet serene atmosphere. We drove to the venue and there's plenty of on-site parking available. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

It's quite a massive structure and you don’t realise just how large the statue is until you see it. I wasn’t a fan of its inside - I had the sense of the religious gaudy. Still, it's a pretty impressive site and worth a visit, especially if you are in the area.

The I’ve taken guests to Ushiku Daibutsu. They were stunned by the sheer size of the statue, its serenity, and the reverence of visitors who apply gold leaf to him. Diversions there when we visited included an antiques sale of Buddhist statuary, newborn wild boars, and the squirrel habitat. It’s at once imposing, serene and exciting.
