Guillaume Doré
While Saga castle is one of the few castle with a palace building, in this case reconstructed, it's also much more tame in style compared to the reconstructed palace of Nagoya castle (Aichi), or Kumamoto castle. As a fan of the Bakumatsu period, I found it interesting to learn about the fact that the first successful reverberatory furnace was build in Saga and was used to cast cannon, that you can also see on the castle ground. While I might no do a detour only for the castle, unless you also try to get the top 100 castle stamps, why not stop if you pass by Saga, as there is not that much activity that stand out in town.
